Big or Mature Business


Big or Mature businesses face the HIGHEST RISK of failure or material non-performance due to HyperChange. Their national or international scale, a large number of employees, rigid legal and financial structures and an old-school corporate culture, can make meaningful business change difficult if not impossible. Ambitious smaller competitors, along with startups and scale-ups, see Big or Mature businesses as a juicy targets, vulnerable to disruptive technologies and strategies.

Medium Growth Business


Medium-Sized businesses that have a strong growth mindset are generally the LEAST AT RISK for failure and challenges due to HyperChange. They typically have access to capital and other resources. They often have sophisticated management and a strong value proposition. They are aware of changes in their industry, and their growth focus causes them to consider change as a natural part of their current strategy. Like all businesses, they are at risk today for possible poor or incomplete vision, strategy and execution.

Small or Lifestyle Business


Representing 99.7% of all of the businesses in the United States, Small and Lifestyle business is the backbone of our economy. Defined by the SBA to be less than about 1500 employees or less than about $40MM in annual revenue, Small and Life Style business is unique as it relates to change...how? Small and Lifestyle business is the MOST likely to survive HyperChange because of it's ease in making changes, but LEAST likely to survive HyperChange in the near term because of typically lower sophistication, reserves and resiliency. The personal needs and desires of the Founder / Owner for non-business rewards can increase HyperChange risk.

Startups and Scale-Ups


Startups, and their older sisters Scale-Ups, are one of they main CAUSES of most of the World's HyperChange. Leveraging new business models fueled by technology, these early stage companies wreak havoc on the other five types of clients shown here. The actual disruption caused by most startups and scale-ups is small, but for a few, they disrupt entire industries and create incredible wealth. With all their ability to create disruption, both Startups and Scale-Ups are very much as risk for HyperChange as their business models can be eliminated before they become real companies. In addition to normal change, business model changes for Startups and Scale-Ups are referred to as a "pivot."

Governments or NGOs


Government and NGOs are a special case. Because of the way they are funded, they have a relatively low existential risk due to Hyperchange. However,
given the effects of COVID, the coming mass migrations, social unrest, and stresses to the social contract, Governments and NGOs are being tasked to offer new and different kinds of services. They must learn to behave in ways that are very unfamiliar to them, to be much more entrepreneurial and to perform or lose funding. The verdict so far? They are not doing well...they are not changing fast enough and there will be many unpleasant changes coming in times of HyperChange as their constituents show their displeasure.

Business Executives


Today's HyperChange is rapidly redefining the future of work. Automation, artificial intelligence, and the ability for executives to work-from-home are just a few of the forces affecting how Business Executives create value and are compensated. Technology associated job loss will reduce or eliminate the value of countless executives in just 10 years. Executives that are aware of the future of their industry, their current skills and their ambitions can make high-quality decisions.
